Have you ever been picked for something? Maybe a position on a sports team, a spot in an orchestra, a special award, a romantic relationship, a new job, or the opportunity to participate in a program or event? It feels good to be chosen, doesn’t it?
All throughout the Bible, Jesus lets us know that He thinks we are special. From before we were born until this very moment, He has known all about who we are and what makes us tick (see Psalm 139). He knows our unique strengths as well as our faults and shortcomings, and His love is so big that He wants to live in each of us today and forever. So the next time you are tempted to feel discouraged or doubt your worth, remember that YOU have been CHOSEN, hand-picked by the God of the universe. God desires you. He longs to be with you and make you just like Him. He wants to rejoice in your successes and give you strength to overcome your failures. You can rest in the knowledge that you belong to Him.
“My friend… I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:9, 10 NIV
