The last three chapters of Daniel are about a vision that Daniel had concerning the future. This vision was full of kings and wars and everything that would happen from the time of Daniel to the end of the world. Kings would make alliances and break them, princes would over power each other and everyone would be hungry for control. Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden there have always been battles. People have fought against friend and foe. Battles great and small are going on around us. The more we think about it the scarier it becomes. So scary that we want to hide and dream it all away. And yet, even us as Christians are in a fight. Not a war against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces that want to separate us from our heavenly Father.
Poor Daniel was terrified as he talked with the angels and saw visions of the future. But the angel reminded him, “Do not be afraid, you who are highly esteemed,” he said. “Peace! Be strong now; be strong.” Daniel 10:19 This message was not only for Daniel but for us as well. Throughout all of the wars and times of pain and trouble God’s people have had His protection. The same is true today, no matter what will befall us we have the assurance that things will work out in the end. And on that day when we see Jesus descending to meet us we will know that our fight is over.
“As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.” Daniel 12:13
